Our CommunityThe Orff approach is derived from the work of Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman. Very broadly, it aims to appropriate a child's naturally playful mind to introduce and deepen musical practice. Chanting, movement, and story telling engages student minds in activities that lead to discoveries about musical improvisation, composition, and most fundamentally, meaning. When children learn to create meaning through sound and movement, they are learning to transcend what is simply "correct" to enter into something utterly different that they find to be true. They learn to find their own meanings. They learn to think as artists.
If you are new to Orff, we are excited to have you visit the TAOC. Below you will find information about how to get involved with us as well as information about the larger Orff community. |
